Today, this information can be a bit of a surprise for people, especially for the first time learners of the Quran. Many people think that the Holy Book, the Quran, must be higher than the heavens. As we have seen, they cannot be assured that they were originally written on such things as leather, bark and flat stones, and then all of them were collected and booked, which was naturally done by people like you and us. While such reverence for people is respected, it is also important to note that the Book of Allah was revealed to the people. The Ummah, in which the Quran was revealed, has accomplished an honorable but at the same time extremely responsible work that the previous ummah had never been able to do.

People of other religions are not able to recite their own books by heart. However, Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace)'s ummah had the ability to recite the Quran by heart from beginning to end. In all ages, there is a sufficient number of Qaris that have been memorized Quran totally, and will continue until the Day of Judgment by the will of Allah.

Thus, the Holy Quran was revealed, memorized and written for twenty-three years. However, even though the verses of each Surah were individually organized, the Surahs did not come together in book form.

The Quran did not come together in the form of a book in the lifetime of the Prophet Muhammad (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), in the hope that it would be revealed again. According to a report narrated by Imam Nasai, in nine days after the last ayah had been revealed to Rasulallah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) he left the transient world. After his death, the Quran remained in the hearts and written things of people.

The Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) did not find a reason in his time to combine the verses of each Surah into separate pages and to combine the entire Quran into a single book between two volumes. Because there were many Qaris and Quran reciters, and the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) was waiting for revelation again. Some of the ahkams (judgements) might be nas'h (cancel). Although the Quran was not a single mus'haf at the time of the Prophet (May Allah bless him and grant him peace), it was clear that it was written. The memorization of the Holy Quran in the hearts of the Companions would not have made mus'haf necessary to combine into a single one. The Messenger of Allah (May Allah bless him and grant him peace) used to show them verses and surahs by the tawfiq (Allah's willing goodness) of Allah Almighty.
