Quran has several names and attributes, and the more it is read, recited and understood, the more it leads to happiness.

And recite what was revealed to you from the Book of your Lord. There is no changing His words, and you will find no refuge except in Him. (Surah al-Hahf verse 27)

The ulama (Islamic scholars) point out that when we read the Quran, it requires five things:

To believe in and respect the Quran.

The Messenger has believed in what was revealed to him from his Lord, as did the believers. They all have believed in Allah, and His angels, and His scriptures, and His messengers: “We make no distinction between any of His messengers.” And they say, “We hear and we obey. Your forgiveness, our Lord. To you is the destiny.” (Surah al-Baqarah verse 285)

Reciting the Quran.

Those to whom We have given the Scripture follow it, as it ought to be followed—these believe in it. But as for those who reject it—these are the losers. (Surah al-Baqarah verse 121)

Comprehension and consideration

While those who believe, and work righteousness, and believe in what was sent down to Muhammad—and it is the truth from their Lord—He remits their sins, and relieves their concerns. (Surah Muhammad verse 2)

Following the instructions of the Holy Quran.

He who created death and life—to test you—as to which of you is better in conduct. He is the Almighty, the Forgiving. (Surah al-Mulk verse 2)

Dissemination of Quranic Knowledge.

This is a proclamation for mankind, that they may be warned thereby, and know that He is One God, and that people of understanding may remember. (Surah Ibrahim verse 52)
